AAUW 2024 Fundraiser
Purpose: To raise scholarship funds for local women through the Anacortes Branch of The American Association of University Women (AAUW).
AAUW Anacortes is organizing a contest to select 12 Mermen to ride on a float in the 4th of July Parade and appear in the 2025 calendar that will be for sale online and in local stores. Mermen may enter individually or organize a team that must include at least one merman and may include mermaids and merkids.
Registration and donations will begin at 10:00 a.m. on April 20, 2024 at:

Donations
Individual or Team Photo Entry: Minimum donation $25. Participants must register online and submit up to 3 photos that are “suitable” for a family event and culturally appropriate. Mermen may solicit donations from businesses, family, friends and co-workers. The top 6 merman fundraisers will each secure a month in the calendar. The AAUW judges will select the most creative photos for the remaining 6 months. Each photo will appear with a sponsor’s name as a caption.
Donors: Donations are welcome in any amount, and donors may choose to support a merman’s fundraising effort. Donor names will be listed on the back cover of the calendar with a minimum donation of $100.
The final deadline to register and submit photos is June 10, 2024 by 5:00 p.m.
You can register and submit your photos any time up to June 10, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. If you collect additional funds after registering, it will count towards your fundraising total if it is received prior to the June 24, 2024 5:00 p.m. fundraising deadline, as long as the donors reference your Name/Merman alias on the donation page.
If it is a group entry, only one Merman may ride on the float, or the group may provide its own transportation. All other entries may ride in the parade by providing their own transportation, i.e., truck, convertible, skates, skateboard, wheelchair, small boat, dinghy, etc.

Tips: The photos should be high quality for publication in the calendar. We want to encourage scenic backdrops, iconic locations or events around Fidalgo Island. The best orientation for the calendar is in the landscape view (holding the camera horizontally).
